Brunch with Crepes

Over “winter break” I had some of my good friends over for brunch one day.  And I am proud to say – I have FINALLY started learning how much food is the right amount of food to make for these events.  For eight people I made a 9″x13″ egg stratta, blueberry muffins, 2-3 crepes each and I had bought cookies for dessert.  The only thing I had wish I had done differently was NOT make sangria – which we didn’t even touch.  But how was I supposed to know that everybody had gone out the night before?

In addition to spending some time preparing the food, I decided it would be nice for me to create name tags since some of the people knew each other better than others and I wanted to make sure that the breakfast chat didn’t get awkward – I also decided that these particular name tags could double as awesome bookmarks – although I’m not 100% sure I ever relayed that to the guests (but I still have them if anybody wants theirs).

The trickiest part of the entire brunch was trying to master making Crepe Suzettes – which my mother ASSURED me was easy.  I’ve got to tell you, I don’t think I did it quite right – I think I actually doubled the sugar by accident, but hey, they still tasted good – and just more like caramel than grand marnier.  Oh well…

PS.  You may be wondering why there are pictures of the cookies still in saran wrap, and the answer is that once the event starts happening, I don’t ever remember to take pictures, so I try to take pictures of as many things as possible right before everybody arrives.  Maybe one day I’ll master the art of blogging about your party, but until then, you’ll just have to see it like it is.

I will absolutely remember that, Charlotte, NC is on my “to go to list” and crepes are always a good reason to go anywhere.

Also – I know! No pictures of the crepes – a major fail. I just get so caught up in hostessing sometimes I forget to take pictures of the food. Feel free to (please) continue hounding me, hopefully it will become second nature soon. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Love your table setting! So colorful and festive! I also like to make crepe and they are easy…just make lots of them and you’ll be a pro before you know it. I told my kids: Crepes are like pancakes, except they are much thinner and finer! I also like to eat them with Nutella or melted chocolate with cream! I have yet to master lemon sauce/custard!
