Hi everybody – I’ve definitely been MIA for a while, I started a new project for work, so between transitioning the last project to the rest of the team and moving to this one I haven’t found much time. I usually spend the weekend catching up on blog things, but this weekend two really awesome things happened.
(1) I went to Bloggy Boot Camp in Philadelphia (#BBCPhilly) with 160 other bloggers. I was surrounded by people who think like me and can talk about social media for just as long as I can!! What an INCREDIBLE feeling.
(2) Father Tom said his first mass on Sunday. It was like a wedding!! He was ordained on Saturday and said the mass on Sunday. There were so many people there and pictures after and a reception and favors. It was an honor to be there and to get to sing.
So between event #1 and event #2, most of my weekend was booked. I’m sure I will talk more about #BBCPhilly this week, but in the meantime, I figure I’ll tell you about my identity crisis. At the bootcamp we spent time trying to come up with the 6 words that describe your blog. I originally read about this on Janine’s blog, it was started by Ernest Hemingway because somebody challenged him to write a 6 word story. I tried, and I tried, and I tried – and I just couldn’t come up with anything THAT concise, which seems like it’s sort of a problem in trying to figure out who this blog wants to be. (Who, yes, it’s a she.) It’s not really a craft blog – I don’t have enough time to craft. It’s not really a hostess blog – I don’t have enough time to host either. It’s not really a memoir blog because there’s too much design/color/apron stuff in between. So here are some of the best 6 word sayings I came up with (my favorite are bold):
bringing together people, design & colors
just trying to make people smile
wannabe hostess, still figuring it out
wannabe hostess, life’s in the way
need more time for paper crafting
apron wearing, color-loving, hot mess
wannabe housewife, no house, no ring
loves to host parties. And aprons.
aprons: hostess, baker and hot mess
someone who just rambles too much
blogging about blogging and parties inbetween
engineer by day, hostess by night
aprons: for hostesses and hot messes
hostess in training, learning her style
Which ones are your favorite? Now, I’ve got to ask, dear readers of my blog, what type of blog do you think she has become?
Or if you really want a puzzle, what are 6 words for your blog/life?

engineer by day, hostess by night, and hostess in training, learning her style are my favorites. Now off to think about what are the 6 words for my blog/life.
Sorry I just got to wave at you on Sunday, must catch up soon!
Haha absolutely not a problem – sounds good!!
Love ENGINEER BY DAY, HOSTESS BY NIGHT. It is so descriptive of the real you.
I agree with the other two commenters, I like the “engineer by day, hostess by night” line. Glad you had a good time at bloggy bootcamp and look forward to hearing more about it!
I like engineer by day, hostess by night, and I think it’s the most accurate. I also really like apron wearing, color-loving, hot mess, but I don’t really think you’re a hot mess (except on the days that you freak out and have a moose. But those aren’t too frequent I hope.)
Haha – you’re not the first person to say that to me… everybody’s been telling me that they like the ones that say “hot mess”, but my blog doesn’t really show that. Strange. I swear I’m a hot mess 85% of the time. I guess I’ve learned how to push through it :)
Just catching up on your blog! I think I like them all, but like the above comments, I like “engineer by day, hostess by night” And I may want to add (…and anything in between) to that title. What a great way in looking at the blog identity! Now I wonder if mine lives up to its name (LOL)!
Ah, I definitely like the concept of “…and anything in between”. Thanks for stopping by, your input is always appreciated :) PS. I got your card when I got home from a business trip on Friday. Made my day. :)
