Bringing 2013 to a Close

2013 in review

a year in review, one picture per month

My friends have always told me that I’m lucky that my birthday is December 30 because it means that my age corresponds nearly directly to the year.  2013 was the year of 24 for me.  I went into the year with a list of 25 goals.  Some of them got accomplished, and some of them didn’t.  I learned I don’t like old movies so actually sitting down to watch them is pretty pointless.  I learned that when you throw out all of the pairs of jeans that you wanted to make a quilt out of, you can’t make the quilt anymore (oops).  And when you really just can’t find a showing of Rocky Horror Picture show nearby or a ride to the drivein movies, you just add it to next year’s list.

Since my last goals update in October I’ve accomplished a few more things on the list.  I made it to India and back.  I wrote 2 more interactive birthday posts.  And I planned my 25th Birthday Party, which I’m SUPER pumped about.

I’ve decided that I want to make a 2014 goals list as well because I liked having something that was constantly in the back of my head.  But before I share those with you, I want to recap some things that happened in 2014 to make it special that didn’t make it to the formal goals list.

I read 16 books.

I went to the Barnes Museum, the Constitution Center, the Penn’s Landing Ice Rink, & the Magic Gardens in Philadelphia, all for the first time.

I visited Bangalore, Munich, Austin, Charlotte, and Brooklyn for the first time.  I visited Houston for the 2nd time.  And I visited New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Washington DC, Bethesda, and Manhattan for the umpteenth times.

I went to 6 weddings.

I went to Oktoberfest in Munich and Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

I saw Pentatonix in concert 3 times.  I also saw Sara Bareilles, Ariana Grande, The Royal Teeth, Dinner and a Suit, a Disney Cabaret night in New York, and more.

I conquered my fear of salad bars.

I ate the best cupcake ever from Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop in Austin, TX.

I went on25 good dates.

I listened to Carrie Manolakos for a solid 6 months.

I was addicted to 40 Days of Dating.

I embraced Twitter.

I grew out my hair.

and I ate brunch a LOT.

All in all, I would tell you that it was a decent year.  Not my favorite necessarily, but there are definitely some great memoeries that stand out.  I have a pretty good feeling about 2014, AND I’ve got this year’s theme song picked out already.  Be excited.

Anybody have any last minute ideas to add to the 2014 list?
