A 2014 Goals Check-in

2014 Goals Recapphoto by Zoha

Well, we did it y’all – for better, for worse, we are about halfway through 2014.  It occurs to me that I haven’t looked at the goals that I’ve made for the year since I made them.  The only one I remembered without having to think about it was have a boudoir shoot, which, I can gladly say that I’ve done now.  What the heck else was on the list though?

  • Travel Places New and Old
I’ve got to tell you, I’ve kind of been failing miserably at this one.  So far this year I can say that I’ve been to Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Austin, Denver, & I’m going to Utah next week.  How is that failing?  I have no out of the country trips booked, and haven’t made a dent in my “I want to go here list”.  I’m thinking I can probably make it to Boston, Chicago, Orlando, and San Francisco before the year is out, but I’m going to have to get my butt in gear.
  • Go To A Drive-In-Movie
I need to try harder to plan this.  It’s difficult because it involves roping down someone with a car ahead of time.  It seems stupid to have to rent a car to go to the drive-in-movies.
  • Reread The Great Gatsby
Just put it in my suitcase…
  • Record a Song for the Christmas Mix this Year
Damnit.  I need to get on this.  Maybe I can make that happen in July, I just need to find a way to record in Baton Rouge.  Anybody know of any?  (Why Baton Rouge you ask?  I’ve got a specific piano player in mind.)
  • Attend a Blog Conference
I took the Badass Babes Blogging E-Course.  It was wonderful.  (Sign up link here.)
  • Boudoir Session
    Check.
  • Volunteer
Fail.  Alright, I’m going to have to figure this one out.
  • Photograph My Friends
So far I have photographed three people this summer and I’m hoping to keep it going through the rest of the season – and maybe through the fall.  Blog post on this to come later.
  • Attend First Friday Mass
I’m 4/6 right now.  Let’s see if I can go 6/6 for the rest of the year.
  • Make Birthday Cards
Fail.  I’m working on a back-up plan for this though.  I just need some more free time before I can execute it.
  • Host Monthly Game Nights
This one was an absolute fail and I just don’t think it can happen with my schedule.
  • See a Broadway Show
Dad.  We need to get on this one.  Pippin.  You, me.  Let’s do it.
  • Visit 3 New Places in Philadelphia
I’ve made it to Chayya, Hickory Lane, and Hop Sing Laundromat as of now and I’m excited to keep adding to the list.  I’d really love to make it to Vernick, walk the Ben Franklin Bridge, and eat at a new place or two in the Italian Market.
  • Teach a Card Workshop
Oh boy.  Totally forgot this was on the list.  What’s the next potential card holiday?  Halloween.  Yeah, that’s when I’ll do it.
  • Create an Inspiration Board
I’ve been building collages around my room for the past few months and have been really enjoying it.
  • Wear Color Contacts
Totally forgot I put this on here too.  I’m crazy, aren’t I?  Let’s see what I can do about this before the year is out.  Green eyes would go great with my red-ish hair.
  • Paint My Stairwell
I bought a Magic Eraser and now I don’t need to paint my stairs.  Win.
  • Clean Out My Closet
I’m shocked how many things in my closet still have the hangers turned backwards from the beginning of the year.  Excited for the purge at the end of the year.
  • Utilize Google Calendar
    Mission accomplished on this one.
  • Dance Hip-Hop Style
I’m going to have to find a class.

I’m also going to add make my own tomato sauce to the list.  As an Italian, I feel like it’s probably some kind of sin that I’ve never made tomato sauce.  Let me take that back, it’s definitely some kind of sin.  How are you doing on your 2014 goals?

    • Haha, why thank you – I’m going to keep telling myself that it’s a long time just to make myself feel better 🙂
