Boy am I excited about what I have in store for y’all next week.  I’ve decided (by all of the power invested in  me) that next week is hosting cool parties week on the blog.  You’ll get to read about some of the fun parties and hosting tips that I’ve done along the way.  Hopefully I inspire you to throw some cool parties of your own, and inspire me to start hosting them again (sometimes life gets in the way, huh?).  Next week we will be talking about:

In the meantime, I wanted to share this fun fact with you.  I saw Godspell last night on Broadway.  Incredible.  I would tell you all to go see it, but it closes on Sunday unfortunately.  Literally, incredible cast, so inspiring – GREAT voices.

Anyway, they shot confetti out into the audience at one point and I picked some up and put it in my purse (just a few pieces).  When I’m digging through my purse it reminds me of the good times I had and makse me smile.  I also did this with a Cirque de Soleil’s Kooza.

Well, I did it, I signed up for the Philadelphia 2012 Bloggy Boot Camp.  Do I have any idea what I’m getting into?  No.  Am I excited?  Yes.  So excited.

So what does this mean?

I still need to set my goals for the event.  Sure, I’ve got a vague idea – learn some cool things, meet some cool people, make some new friends, find some bloggers in the Philadelphia area.  Oh, and survive.  700 women and I won’t know any of them.  Maybe at my first blog conference I shouldn’t actually have any goals besides learn how to talk to mass crowds of people.  It’s not that I’m shy, I just overthink things.

One thing that I know I want to do is have business cards ready to go. After every conference that people go to, they all seem to come back and do a “Top 10 Best Business Cards” post.  This seems to be the thing to do.

Here’s my first attempt.  What do you think?  All compliments, criticisms, and adjustments are welcome.

(Note: The black border isn’t part of the card.)

After reading Elise Blaha’s post tips for fun “everyday” photos last night, I decided it would be a cool idea to have a day in the life of Chrystina.  (I have absolutely LOVED reading Elise’s blog lately, she’s so inspirational and crafty.  An awesome combination.)  I tried to take pictures of random things throughout the course of my day – but really it all culminated in the Baton Rouge Wednesdays Food Truck Wround Up where I took about 20 pictures.  (Best dinner I’ve had here yet, I think.)

I tried to use some of the tips that I read in her post last night such as: getting on the right level, focusing on the details, shooting from above, cutting from the frame, not giving up on reflection shots, using natural light, and getting the big picture.  Alright, so it looks like the only one that I missed for the day was “using the timer”.  I only had my iPhone though, so that’s how it happened.  And yes, I could have waited until I got home and got my nice camera to do this, but why push motivation and excitement to a later date?  Use it while you got it.

Take a look at my day:

I don’t know that I’ve told you about my new singing adventure yet (if I have, you’ll just have to listen again, sorry) – the Baton Rouge Chorus. A Chorus out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana of approximately 30 women who sing barbershop music. Yes, barbershop music. I am a 23-year-old singing barbershop music… and it is awesome. I sing the bass part – the lowest part they’ll give me… and I love it. I recently had my first “dress up” concert with them at Louisiana State University. This was my first time performing in costume with them and it was an EXPERIENCE. I wanted to share it with you all. It’s pretty epic.

First of all, I want to say that I absolutely adore every one of these ladies – they’re making my Louisiana adventure a million times better. Between the stories that everybody has, the witty sarcastic moments during rehearsal, their southern hospitality and kind hearts…. the walking like a Swede, the retreat talent show, and the “guzentas”… I’ve had an absolute blast.

Second of all, I want to say that I couldn’t have made it through getting ready for this concert without all of their support – seriously. Borrowed Gloria’s eye shadow, Kristina’s eyeliner, Patty helped me put the eyeliner on, Cindy’s sponge, Gloria powdering my face, Wendy’s lip liner, Jane’s lipstick/blush, and Cate’s shoes. (You will all be happy to know that I bought eyeliner, sponges, and lip liner this weekend. I also remembered to pack my lipstick.)

I know, I know – I stink at being a female. I’m an engineer, what do you want from me? (I love when I get to pull that card.)

Here’s the Baton Rouge Chorus Makeup Saga. I decided I was going to write this blog post early on in this process, hence the ridiculous faces. I also decided the classiness of the final picture cancels out all of the ridiculousness of the other pictures, which is why I feel okay sharing them all on here. (Oh, and the face in the blush picture can be explained by the fact that it looked like war makeup to me…)

Not too shabby, huh?

I’ve got to say, overall the chorus looked pretty gosh darn incredible… and sounded pretty incredible. Can’t wait to perform with these ladies in the Regional Competition this weekend!!!

And in case anybody was wondering. That awesome pig is our Chorus’s piggy bank named Mere Cash which has been used to raise money all year. Brought to you by Donna R.
