6 Gift Ideas for Bakers

Somewhere along the line I started to identify with being a baker. Now I’m somehow the go-to girl at the office who brings in baked goods at least once a month trying to convince people that it’s completely acceptable to have cupcakes for breakfast (because it is – it’s also acceptable to have cookies, pie, cake, and pudding – thanks for always approving of this, mom!). I took a look around my kitchen and found the things that I am most excited about and wanted to share them with you today in case you need some ideas to get the baker in your life for the holidays.

Cupcake Carrier

If you had asked me about this before I had one I would have said, that sounds great, but it sounds too expensive. In retrospect, I’m not really sure how else I would have carried so many cupcakes around at a time. A good friend bought me mine as a gift; I have this one and I absolutely love it. I’m considering buying another one so that I can keep stacking things higher.

Saran Wrap

This was also a gift. Two years ago my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas and my answer was an industrial-sized plastic wrap. There was always one of these around my house while I was growing up and it just seems so convenient. I think in all my years of living at home I’d only ever seen it run out once or twice. My mom got me Berkely and Jensen Plastic Wrap from BJs, and it’s perfect.

Camera Strap

While this might sound like a stretch, if the baker in your life takes pictures of his or her food this might be super useful. Especially if you’re standing on a chair looking down at the food you made and don’t want to accidentally drop the camera. Mine is from mod and it always makes me feel extra inspired when I see it, and on top of that it’s pretty comfortable.

Cupcake Wrappers

I have a friend who showed up to a brunch with a hostess gift for me completely unexpectedly. Inside were adorable cupcake wrappers and fancy sprinkles that I never would have bought for myself. What a treat! Now I’ve got a stash of cupcake wrappers for a special occasion one day. Who knows, maybe my birthday this year?

Cake Mix

They sell a lot of high-end cake mixes these days.  And while I would never buy myself a $15 can of cakemix for an ordinary occasion I did splurge on a Sprinkles cake mix at Williams-Sonoma for my 21st birthday. It was quite good and felt super fancy. Was it the best cake I’ve ever had? No. Was it fun to make and splurge? Yes.

Cookbooks

If you know the person well enough, you can chance buying them a cookbook. If you know they read certain blogs or linger in certain bakeries, is there a specific cookbook for sale that they might enjoy? I own both Joy the Baker cookbooks and the Oh She Glows cookbook and like them both a lot. Also, the Baked cookbooks are next on my list. Or if you have a favorite cookbook, buy it for them and mark a few specific recipes that you like.

Is there anything else you would add to the list? (or I should add to mine?) I’d love to know.
