Do people merge their finances together when they get married?

Today we're talking about finances.

If you haven't yet figured it out, I'm asking all the hard questions this year. In my year leading up to the wedding. Well, 15 months actually, I'm working to get a handle on estate planning, merging bank accounts, and who exactly should get prenuptial agreements. I've been very lucky to have some great conversations with some wonderful women who are helping me out on this journey and I'm excited to be sharing what I've learned with each of you.

So what does this have to do with community building? Well, the first step in community building is having a solid foundation. When you start building your community through partnerships and resources at home, your community flourishes around you. Start at home, and build from there.

Listen to the Episode

In the third episode of season 2, I chat with Beth D'Andrea from PlumTree Financial Planning about what it looks like to merge financial lives with someone when you get married.

  • What does it look like to merge accounts? or credit cards?

  • Do you need a separate savings account?

  • What kind of questions should you be asking yourself and each other as you forge together in your partnership?

All of these questions are answered (and more) in this hour long conversation.
