Work-Life Balance

Has anybody lost track of what day of the week it is? I was just on my way to bed and realized that it's Sunday, which means it's podcast newsletter day. And I find myself grateful having this wonderful community of folks to connect with in a time when the world is a little topsy turvy.

My new website is now up and running, and while I didn't quite know what I was going to do with bright yellow when it came to the branding, I'm very happy with the lemons photo at the top of the page. There's something very "when life gives you lemons" about personal improvement.

I attempted to add everybody to a mailing list through that website instead of Tiny Letters, but I'm not quite sure it worked yet, so I'm going to send out my letter this way as well this week. Apologies if you get two letters! I'll have the bugs worked out for next week.

Podcast News

  • If you haven't listened to Episode 7 with Justin Shiels yet, do yourself a favor and listen to it now. It's a really great conversation about friendships, more important than ever at a time like this.

  • As for Episode 8, you can look forward to its release next week. It's all about money stories with Eugenie George. And I can't wait for you to hear it.

Self Improvement of the Week

  • As I shared last week, I tracked my time this week. I found that in order to get to 9 or 10 hours of billable work during the week it involves me being in front of a computer every day until almost midnight. Something is going to have to change here, I just haven't quite figured out how to do that yet. All suggestions welcome.

  • On a video brunch call this morning (which is a thing now) a friend recommended listening to the 6 episodes of This Podcast Might Kill You about COVID-19. From her description it seems to be science-based and (at least mildly) hopeful. I downloaded it immediately. Of course, I have 100 unlistened to episodes right now, so we'll see when I get to them. Without morning walks and airport runs, I haven't quite been able to carve out that listening time yet.

  • Other friends and I will be checking out Netflix Party next week as a new way of staying in touch. I will report back on how that goes.

  • I've started responding to every personal email asking for favorite weeknight recipes so that I can build up my own stash of recipes. Here's the list I put together so far.

How are things going with yourself? Have you found a way to get any work-life balance? Any and all self-care tips are appreciated at this time, the world is definitely an anxiety-inducing place these days.
