13: Systems We've Created At Home

In Episode 13 I chat with my sister, Julie, about habits and systems we have in place at home. Admittedly, I probably wouldn't have come up with the word "systems" if it weren't for my consulting day job, but mostly, we're talking about how we set the logistics up in our homes - everything from how you manage your to do list to your inbox to the list of books that you want to read.

I thought Julie would be an interesting person to talk to because we both grew up in the same environment, but don't currently know much about each other's day-to-day lives. It proved to be true! Some things stuck with each of us from childhood and some things did not. Either way, I can tell you that she definitely has a better memory than I do.

In This Call We Cover:

  • Calendar management

  • Inbox management

  • To do list organization

  • Notes apps

  • Books to read

  • Saving memories, and more!

Podcast News:

It has been a while since I published an episode. Part of that is because 2020 has been a very unexpected year and part of it is because my day job got a little bit crazier. I have fully embraced that this podcast is a hobby for me and I look forward to sharing content as I feel inspired moving forward. Next up I will be sharing a little more about my own social justice journey and chat with some friends about their own journies.

Self-Improvement:

  • I've hired an executive coach. I'm really really excited about everything I'm learning and having consistent space in my life to work on self improvement each week. I'm looking forward to creating an episode about this experience!

  • As I mentioned, I'm still on my own social justice journey and am continuing with the reading of articles and listening of podcasts. Excited to continue to learn, make mistakes, and grow.

  • I'm trying not to kill my two house plants. It seems like it should be easier than it feels to me. I think some of the problem is that I don't get much sun inside the house and so I spent the day moving plants around as the sun moved to try to help them get stronger. We'll see how that goes.
