09: Chrystina's COVID-19 Life

Popping in for an unexpected Episode 9 about what social distancing looks like right now. In this episode I cover what the day-to-day of the past month has looked like, systems I've put in place, ideas for hangouts, how to stay sane, my thoughts on quarantine goals, and the results of a group-think brainstorm about how we can keep to support folks who need it financially right now.

Podcast News:

  • In this episode, you learn a little more about why I dropped off the grid for a few weeks. Some of it was work related, some of it was the lack of technology setup to get the job done, and I think some of it has to do with the fact that we're in the middle of an international pandemic (so, you know, general shock).

  • I have one more episode recorded after this one to share with y'all, episode 10 about personality tests where I talk with my good friend, Success Strategist, Eryn Morgan.

  • I'd love to hear if there's anything you're interested in working on next. Especially during this super strange time. Personally, I'm going to need to spend some time journaling to figure out what I'm working on, if anything, right now. First things to the top of my head - how to handle cooking at home for every meal, how to promote yourself at the office, and how to raise kids while living in a City.

Self-Improvement Inspiration From the Week:

  • I wrote an article on LinkedIn last week called Planning online team meetings, work sessions, and happy hours. It's everything I've learned about planning Zoom meetings in the last month.

  • I've been using the time tracking app, Boosted, to help keep track of how many hours I'm working during the week. It is both incredibly useful and kind of sad to see the results.

  • One of my favorite (legacy) bloggers, Elise Blaha Cripe releases her Big Dreams Daily Joys journal this week. I bought a few for people, including myself, and can't wait to start using it. The description of this journal is: "This journal makes it easy (and enjoyable!) to accomplish your goals. Featuring simple-to-follow prompts for reflecting on weekly progress and setting attainable goals for the days ahead, these pages will help you accomplish your to-dos, make time and space for what matters, and avoid feeling overwhelmed."

  • I went ahead and scheduled a bunch of extra lessons with my lovely Spanish, Gloria, tutor from Episode 4 for the next few weeks (because she's great). Highly recommend working with her if you're trying to learn Spanish.

I hope all is well with you and that you and your families are safe right now during this time. Stay well. Don't overburden yourself with things you're working on. Sometimes the thing you're working on is just getting through the neverending stack of dishes that keeps growing from cooking every meal at home.
